How are we this week?
Let's start off with soccer. On Saturday the Football Kingz came out with a 1-1 draw to get a valuable point. Wynton Rufer made it look easy getting a goal just before half time. And Wellington is looking like it will host the World Cup qualifier between NZ & Australia which may help our chances.
More FM has saved the national beach volleyball pro tour for which I'm sure all the guys that watch are extremely grateful !!!
NZ Mare Sunline won the Hong Kong Mile & has been pronounced the "world's best mare" by one of racing's top broadcasters. For her efforts she one $NZ1.75 million.
In yachting, Gavin Brady beat fellow NZer Murray Jones to win the Fremantle International Regatta. Chris Dickson finished fifth.
In the Womens Cricket World Cup NZ face India on Wednesday in the semi final. The other semi is between Australia and South Africa with Australia likely winners.
To finish on a sad note, Vic Kay a motorbike motoring writter died on Wednesday of a heart attack. He had written for the MotorTimes for the last 15 years.
Ok enough sport - other stuff does happen in NZ!
In possibly the most important news of the week a new cafe opened. Not just a normal cafe mind you, this one was in Paeroa and is called "The World Famous in NZ L&P; Bar and Cafe". Along with full history on L&P; they also sell L&P; Ice Cream. I'll probably be heading past sometime this long hot summer so I'll go & buy one & think of you all as I eat it all up (insert licking of lips sounds in here!).
It looks like Labour is trying to get rid of Dover Samuels as things have heated up this week. He's been given a shut up or get out ultimatum.
England could again be exporting their criminals but this time to NZ. A plan to relocate the killers of Liverpool toddler James Bulger, is being considered - lock up your kids!
NZ Post is keenly pushing the "People's Bank" idea. Their board has recommended that the Government go ahead. I still say that banks rake soo much money off us that NZ Post is just wanting to get in on the deal. They won't charge any less than other banks is my bet!
BP has dropped petrol prices again, this time by 4c, so now 91 is only about $1.03/l. I would be interested to know if prices in England & Australia are also dropping...
A man fell to his death from the top floor of Te Papa on Sunday afternoon.
Ok that's it, I hope you all have a good week.
Next week is Christmas so I might be a couple of days late!
